PPM wins the Alifushi by-election

PPM Candidate Aiminath Ali has won the Raa. Alifushi Council by-election after beating the MDP candidate Ali Hameedh.

Preliminary results show 685 votes to the PPM candidate and 490 votes to the MDP candidate.

The position at the council was opened after the Council Member Abdul Latheef Abdul Rahmaan resigned from his position. He is PPM member who was the president of the council in the previous term.

Three vote boxes were allocated for the election in the island with 266 eligible voters to the first box. There are 613 eligible voters for the second box and 565 eligible voters to the third box. The vote box in Male’ City had 357 eligible voters.
