Anti-government march held in Mal

Opposition groups have held an anti-government march in Malé this evening (Friday, 27 March 2015).

The demonstrators began walking from Raalhugandu area, went along some main roads, and concluded the event at Artificial Beach.

Participants called for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed, former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim, and Galolhu-South MP Ahmed Mahloof.

Addressing the participants at Artificial Beach, Chairperson of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) Ali Waheed criticised the government and said that the country was falling behind, instead of moving forward in terms of development.
