Former Defence Minister Colonel-retired Nazim sentenced for 11 years in prison.
The sentence from the Criminal Court tonight says that while taking the evidence from the state proves, while taking the witness testimonies that says that the handgun was found in Nazim’s apartment and Nazim’s own testimony that says that it was found in his cupboard into account, that the handgun found in Nazim’s apartment belongs to him.
The sentence also says that the defence tried to fabricate evidence. And the report from Nazim about a missing handgun from the MNDF proves it. And that report was not a valid report and the MNDF letter to the court confirms that no weapons were missing.
Noting the claims from the defence in their closing statements saying that the search warrant was acquired outside the law, the sentence said the court issued the search warrant within the law. And the police testimonies prove that the search of Nazim’s apartment was conducted within the law.
Before the sentencing, the judge said the dropping the charges against the former defence minister’s wife do not mean the former defence minister would not be found guilty.
At the end of the session, the final words from Nazim were, “Stay strong, justice would prevail.”
