Election Commission warns MDP and Adhaalath

Elections Commission has warned MDP and Adhaalath that steps would be taken if they act outside the law during the protest rallies.

In individual letters sent to Adhaalath and MDP from the Elections Commission said that in the joint rally last Tuesday, the protestors violated the law of political parties and the law of peaceful protest by attacking the police, vandalizing property and by calling for violence. And so the Elections Commission has advised both parties not to commit such acts.

It also says that the Elections Commission is observing the acts outside the law during protests and steps would be taken accordingly against such violations of the law.
