Court extends remand for two out of three people arrested with machetes

Criminal Court has extended the remand periods for two out of the three people arrested with a sack containing ten machetes on Monday morning.

Two of the suspects are aged 19, while the other is aged 15.

The court released the 15-year-old, and gave remand periods of five days for the two 19-year-olds.

They were arrested at 3:45 a.m. on Buruzu Magu in Henveyru on Monday morning, after being searched following suspicious behaviour, by police officers who were patrolling the area at the time, said police.
