Nazim

The judges have denied the request by the former Defence Minister Mohamed Nazim to leave the country due to his medical condition after his doctors stated that the former defence minister can attend court in his condition.

While Nazim’s lawyers have previously made the request at the court to leave the country due to his life threatening medical condition, the judges said today that the request cannot be granted. However, efforts would be made to speed up the trial.

The former defence minister has been moved to house arrest from Police custody and his lawyers say that his condition is serious.

The last hearing of the trial was scheduled for Wednesday in the case against the former defence minister who has been charged with import and possession of a firearm.
