President sends message of condolence to Prime Minister of Singapore

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has sent a message of condolence to Prime Minister of Singapore, Lee Hsien Loong, following the passing away of Lee Kuan Yew, former Prime Minister of Singapore.

The President’s Office said that President Yameen said in his message:

“It was with profound sadness that I received the news of the passing away of your beloved father, Former Prime Minister His Excellency Lee Kuan Yew.

“As a true visionary, His Excellency was undoubtedly the architect of Singapore’s prosperity and contemporary development. He was indeed one of the most extraordinary statesmen of our time, and his legacy will forever live on.

“At this time of national mourning, the Government and the people of the Maldives and I personally join you and your family, and the people of Singapore, in sharing your profound grief. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this most difficult time.”
