The government coalition has beaten the opposition MDP in both of the by-election held today.
In the Meedhoo Atoll Council by-election held today was won by the MDA candidate Mohamed Mamdhooh with 997 votes of 60.94 percent of voters. His opponent, the MDP candidate got 639 votes.
Out of the voting community of 2366 people of the constituency, only 1662 people voted 1636 valid votes.
And after Mohamed Arif Abdul Hakim, who won the 17 contestant Haa. Alif. Muraidhoo Council election, PPM’s Abdulla Mufeed won the by-election today with 208 votes being 45.51 percent of the votes. The independent candidate Mohamed Fuad won the second place with 143 votes while the MDP candidate Aishath Visama won third with 107 votes.
With 464 voters of the 576 of the Muraidhoo voting community voted in the by-election today with 458 valid votes.
