Saudi increases the Hajj quota for Maldives by a 1000

Minister of Islamic Affairs, Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed said that the Saudi has increase the quota for the Hajj Pilgrims by 1000.

Speaking at the Ibrahim Nasir International Airport (INIA) after returning from the official visit to Saudi Arabia with President Yamin, the Minster of Islamic Affairs said that Saudi has already given a 1000 quota for the Hajj Pilgrimage.

“We are very happy to announce to the Maldivian citizens that because of this visit by President Yamin, something very joyous has happened. That is, the Saudi has given an extra 1000 quota for the Hajj Pilgrims to the Maldives. So we now have a total of 2000 quota for the Hajj pilgrimage. This is not a number any other country has received.” Dr. Shaheem said.

The President Yamin said that Saudi has increase the scholarships they offer from 50 to 150.

meaning a total of 2000 Maldivians can make the Hajj Pilgrimage per year.
