Man arrested in an attempt to bring in drugs to Muli

A man has been arrested with 15 rubber packets and five bullet sized packs suspected of being illegal drugs in an attempt to bring it in to the island Muli of Meemu Atoll.

Police said today that a 31 year local have been taken into custody at the island harbor area on the 18 March in an operation ran by the police following intel on an attempt to bring in drugs to the island. They said the packets suspected of containing drugs were found when the man was searched.

A urine test has come back positive for two types of drugs, says police.

Muli Magistrate Court has added 15 days to the man’s arrest to investigate the case while keeping him custody at a location chosen by the Home Ministry.
