Members furious with the Party

After Adhaalath Party retracted their support to the government claiming that the government has betrayed the people trust and working against the spirit of the constitution and making the decision to join and hold activities with the opposition MDP has left the members of Adhaalath unhappy.

A member of the Party’s committee who wished to remain anonymous told Sun Media that the members of the party were extremely concerned with the Party’s decision to withdraw from the government’s support. And when the decision to work with the opposition MDP was made, he said, a lot of members got furious and are trying to leave the party.

“The members were not so against the party’s decision before. But this time, the members are against it. A lot of people are against it. The members are unhappy, mostly, because no reason to leave the government coalition was given.” He said.

Some members of the party said that the high ranking officials of Adhaalath Party are claiming to leave the party on social media.

Registrar of Adhaalath Party, Abdul Haadhee Hussain told Sun Media that there are always concerns from some members about the party’s decisions. And like this time, concerns were also raised when the party decided to support President Yamin.

“They (concerns) came with the decision this time. No one is leaving the party (so far), to my knowledge two people left the party. Reaction comes later, no?” The Registrar said.

He said that people always leave the party and with this decision, so far only two people left the party.

The President of Adhaalath Party Sheikh Imran Abdulla has been criticizing the government since the decision to leave the coalition. The other most influential person in the party, also a minister in the government, Dr. Mohamed Shaheem has been responding to criticism from Sheikh Imran.

The biggest opposition party in the country has decided to work with the Adhaalath Party. MDP made the decision when Adhaalath Party called for unity in the political activities.
