Adhaalath Party (AP) has said that the party has neither discussed nor decided to take any action in relation to recent disagreements with Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.
AP has decided to leave the government coalition, following which its President Imran Abdulla has aimed severe criticism at the government.
Imran’s remarks of disapproval of the government, meanwhile, have been met with praise for the government by Dr Shaheem – also a senior member of AP.
In response to a question posed by a reporter in this regard during a press conference, Imran said that the party’s council had neither discussed nor decided to take any action in relation to this matter.
He refused to comment further, saying that he cannot provide an answer on an issue that had not been discussed by the council.
AP recently described the current government as an oppressive government, which was followed by Dr Shaheem saying that the government has not done anything to obstruct the efforts to encourage religious activities in the country.
