Agreement signed for training 5,000 teachers

An agreement has been signed between Ministry of Education and Kulliyathul Dhiraasathul Islamiyya, regarding training 5,000 teachers.

The ten-year agreement was signed by Minister of Education Dr Aishath Shiham, and President of Kulliya Council Dr Ahmed Shareef.

After the signing ceremony, Dr Shareef said that teachers will be trained for Quran and Arabic language under the agreement.

He said that efforts were ongoing to put together the curriculum, and the courses can also be taken by working teachers.

“We are working to make the courses available to teachers in their own islands. It doesn’t have to be face-to-face, we are looking to incorporate technology,” he said.

Deputy Minister of Education said that courses in different subjects, including Counselling and Early Childhood, will be introduced at Kulliyya once it becomes a university.
