Developments can be reported from media gallery, says Parliament

The Parliament Secretariat has said that journalists can report the developments at the parliament from the galleries designated for media.

This follows a letter from Maldives Media Council (MMC) to the parliament, raising concern over difficulties faced by reporters when the live feed of the sittings are cut off.

The parliament said that reporters can use mobile phones, laptop, and iPads to report news from the gallery.

However talking on the phone and taking videos and photos are not allowed, the parliament said in its letter.

The parliament has stopped issuing the live feed of the sittings to media stations, due to protests by opposition groups calling for the release of former President Mohamed Nasheed.
