Thorig: Coastal protection projects worth MVR 350 million will be implemented this year

Minister of Environment and Energy Thorig Ibrahim has said that MVR 350 million will be spent by the government on coastal protection projects in 2015.

The minister made this remark at a ceremony at Environment Ministry today, held for the signing of contracts for the construction of coastal protection structures in Thaa Kandoodhoo and Veymandoo.

He said that coastal protection projects will commence in nine islands including Kandoodhoo and Veymandoo this year, and this will see the construction of a total of about 7.8-km coastal protection structures.
