Captain dies in a collision between a boat and a speedboat

The captain of a diving boat has died in a collision that occurred near Baros Resort between a diving boat and a speedboat.

President of the Innamaadhoo Island Coucil Ibrahim Fayaz spoke to Sun Media today said that the captain who dies in today’s collision at sea was the 35 year-old Ahmed Nadheem of Innamaadhoo.

Police says that the three Chinese passengers on the speedboat sustained minor injuries and Marine Police is active at the scene.

Injured tourists were being brought in when Sun Media journalists arrived at ADK hospital.

Police media officials told Sun Media today that the collision occurred around 11:40 a.m. this morning. And the police was informed through a local in Male’ who was contacted by a person on the boat in the collision.

Officials says the two vessels involved in the collision belong to Baros Resort. And the diving boat has now sunk, according to the police.
