Police have ordered not to hold rallies near the City Council

Police have ordered not to hold the MDP-JP serial protest rallies near the City Council.

In a press release by the Maldives Police Service today said that complaints are coming in because of the disturbance to the people and the businesses in the City Council area from the ongoing rallies since 22 February.

The rallies are held at Majeedhee Magu at the most important business hours and and the roads are being blocked due to the demonstrations and the police believe that this situation calls to protect the rights of the people in the area.

The police press release says that under the law article 41-G, they have ordered the organizers of the rallies starting today not to hold the demonstrations between the hours of 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. in the areas between Chaandhanee Magu and the National Stadium on Majeeshee Magu and Alikilegefaanu Magu.
