Hulhumal

Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has said that despite the initial notice that water service would be disrupted in Hulhumalé for three hours from 9:00 p.m. on Monday, the service could only be restored after eight hours.

An official of MWSC told Sun Online that water service had to be disrupted for repairs, and was restored at 5:00 a.m. on Tuesday.

He said that repairs were necessary after the main water supply pipe was damaged and started leaking, in a project undertaken by a private group.

“The delay was caused by having to wait, after water was cut off, until the pipe was empty. That’s why the service could not be restored sooner,” he said.

He said that the problem has been fully resolved and water service has been restored in all areas in Hulhumalé.
