AP Leader Imran shares concerns over political situation with President

President of Adhaalath Party (AP) Sheikh Imran Abdulla has said after a meeting with President Abdulla Yameen today, that the purpose of the meeting was to discuss the current political situation.

The meeting began at 1:15 p.m., and Imran talked to reporters as he exited the President’s Office at around 3:10 p.m.

He said that the meeting followed a request by AP leadership, and the discussion was focused on AP’s concerns regarding the current political situation.

He told reporters that the President also shared his view on the current situation.

AP was initially part of the government coalition, and the party helped the current government win the Presidential Election.

Imran has however recently criticised the government’s decisions, especially following the arrest of former Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim.

Opposition parties have announced recently that efforts would be made to include more parties in the ongoing series of anti-government protests to “defend the Constitution”.
