Diploma courses for teachers introduced in 15 islands

Diploma courses specially designed for teachers who possess academic certificates below diploma level, have been introduced in 15 islands of Maldives.

According to the teachers’ framework formulated by Education Ministry this year, teachers who hold certificates below Diploma level will be terminated by the end of this year.

A total of 1,236 practicing teachers have participated in the courses introduced on Thursday.

Courses introduced on Tuesday include Diploma in Teaching Primary in English and Dhivehi medium, Diploma in Teaching Primary Dhivehi, Quran and Islam, Diploma in Secondary Teaching of Dhivehi Language, Diploma in Teaching for students with Special Educational Needs, Diploma in Teaching Preschool and Physical Education.

These courses have been started in National University Campuses established in Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi, Laamu Gan, Gaafu Dhaalu Thinadhoo, and Seenu Hithadhoo. These courses also have been introduced in Raa Dhuaafaru, Baa Eydhafushi, Lhaviyani Naifaru, Vaavu Felidhoo, Faafu Nilandhoo, Dhaalu Kudahuvadhoo, Gnaviyani Fuvahmulah, Thaa Vilufushi and Gaafu Alifu Vilingili.

Speaking in the event held on Tuesday at Faculty of Education of Maldives National University, Education Minister Dr. Aishath Shiham said that Ministry has put special emphasis on producing quality teachers.
