Maumoon congratulates Umar for leaving JP

Former President and the Leader of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) Maumoon Abdul Gayyoom has congratulated Home Minister Umar Naseer for leaving Jumhooree Party (JP).

Maumoon, who is currently at India in an official trip, has congratulated Minister Umar in a tweet he posted on Saturday afternoon.

Minister Umar left JP following the decision made by JP to join Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP).

Umar Naseer joined JP during Presidential election. He was dismissed from PPM on 27 April 2013 after he refused to apologize for accusing his opponent of underhandedly manipulating the results of party’s presidential primary, statements he had made during an event following his defeat at the primary.
