The High Court has denied former President Mohamed Nasheed’s request to issue an order upon the Judicial Service Commission (JSC), to ensure that the commission does not make any changes to the bench of judges, or constitute a new bench of judges to preside over his case.
High Court said in a letter sent to Nasheed today that at this stage of the trial, the bench of judges presiding over this case do not deem it necessary to issue such an order.
Earlier, High Court issued an injunction upon Hulhumalé Court, as requested by Nasheed, to delay the trial of his case regarding the alleged illegal arrest of High Court Judge Abdulla Mohamed, until the High Court ruled on his case questioning the legitimacy of the bench of judges presiding over the case in the lower court.
