Ferry to Faafu Nilandhoo runs aground on Filitheyo Reef

A ferry on its way from Malé to Faafu Nilandhoo has run aground on Filitheyo Reef in Faafu Atoll.

Ahmed Ali Hassan, who spoke to Sun Online from the boat, said that no goods were damaged and no one was hurt in the incident.

‘Faseyha’ hit Filitheyo Reef at around 5:00 a.m. today.

Another passenger who spoke to Sun Online accused the captain of negligence, and said that the women and children had been taken to their respective islands on another atoll ferry.

Efforts are ongoing by the Coast Guard and other boats, to refloat Faseyha.
