PG: Institutions will be prosecuted if found negligent in Rakeedhoo child case

Prosecutor General (PG) Muhuthaz Muhsin said that they are investigating on all government intuitions involved in the case of Rakeedhoo child, Mohamed Ibthihaal who has been found dead on Wednesday as a result of his mother’s physical abuse and that the institutions will be charged if found to be negligent in the case.

PG Muhuthas on Wednesday said to Sun Online that it has been evident that Police and Gender Ministry have been reported about the case of mother of Ibthihaal abusing the child physically and said “it is not acceptable to leave the child of that age back with his mother”.

“It is a problem in the system to leave the child with mother who abused the child physically that much” said Muhuthaz.

PG said that the case is being investigated to see if any institution was negligent in the case by a team of three lawyers of Prosecutor General’s Office and if any institution is found to be negligent, the institution will be prosecuted.

President of Rakeedhoo Council Adam Saamee told Sun Online that the mother had been advised and warned by the Ministry of Law and Gender and the police following suspected abuse earlier, and that the mother has continued to abuse the child even after that.
