Notice of appeal to be filed within 10 days of verdict

Supreme Court has announced that notice of appeal must be filed within ten days of the date of verdict issued by trail courts and tribunals.

A circular released by Supreme Court on Tuesday read that if a decision made by a superior court, a magistrate court or a tribunal needs to be appealed, notice of appeal must be filed by filling and submitting the form which is attached with the circular to the court or tribunal that issued the sentence within ten days of sentencing.

It was also noted that the court or tribunal that received the notice of appeal must forward the form and related documents to the High Court within seven days of receiving it.

The circular also read that High Court, within seven days of receiving the form and documents from the lower courts or tribunals must inform about the appeal case to the concerned authorities and start reconsidering the case and taking required legal actions without any further notice of appeal.
