Maldives to hold absentee funeral prayer for King Abdullah

Absentee funeral prayer (salat al-ghaib) for Saudi Arabia’s King Abdullah will be held at mosques across the country after Ishaa prayer tonight.

This was announced on Twitter, by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed.

Dr Shaheem also said that the assumption of the Saudi throne by Salman bin Abdulaziz would strengthen bilateral ties between Maldives and Saudi Arabia.

King Abdullah, aged 91, was suffering from a lung infection, and passed away at a hospital at King Abdulaziz Medical City in Riyadh, at 1:00 a.m. local time.
