Alhan condemns Nasheed

Maldivian Democratic Party Parliamentary group Member and Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmy has condemned former President Mohamed Nasheed’s anti-Islamic views revealed to foreign media.

Alhan posted on twitter ‘I condemn President Nasheed's anti-Islamic views revealed on foreign media. This is sad and disastrous!’

Alhan confirmed that this tweet was made by him via his own account, but did not give further details.

Nasheed told Washington Post in an interview that he attempted to make the education curriculum less Islamic and more moderate, tried to renew ties with Israel after thirty years, and tried to protect women who had been forced to wear burgas by extremists.

Following this, several political parties in the country which are against MDP have accused Nasheed of expressing anti-Islamic views.
