Managing Director of MWSC dismissed

Ahmed Umar has been dismissed from his post as Managing Director of Malé Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC).

Chairperson of Privatisation Board Mohamed Nizar told Sun Online that Umar was dismissed today, as requested by the government.

The reason for Umar’s dismissal is yet unclear. Umar was appointed to this post, a slot given to Jumhooree Party (JP), by the current government.

An investigation is underway by the government to determine the cause of the fire at MWSC in December 2014, which cut off water in Malé for a week.
