A total of 111 illegally parked vehicles were removed from the streets of Malé yesterday, a police spokesperson has told Sun Online.
He said that this included 55 four-wheeled vehicles, of which only 34 had registration plates; and 56 two-wheeled vehicles, of which only 40 had registration plates.
The vehicles lacking registration plates would be taken to Thilafushi, he said, while the remaining vehicles would be released to their owners when they pay the fine.
He added that illegally parked vehicles would be towed in the coming days as well, as doing so would make parking easier for others and help police in their efforts to maintain order in the streets of Malé.
