Three former presidents congratulate Sri Lanka

Three former presidents of Maldives, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom, Mohamed Nasheed, and Mohamed Waheed, have congratulated the new President of Sri Lanka Maithiripala Sirisena.

All three congratulatory messages came on Twitter earlier today.

Former President Gayoom, in his message, congratulated Sirisena on his election victory, as well as outgoing president Mahinda Rajapaksa for his gracious transfer of power.

Former President Nasheed congratulated Sirisena, and said that the election underscores the maturity and robustness of democracy in Sri Lanka.

A congratulatory message was also extended by former President Waheed, to Sirisena and the people of Sri Lanka following the Presidential Election.
