Gemanafushi fishing boat, reported missing with 22 people onboard, found

The fishing boat from Gaafu Alifu Gemanafushi, which was reported missing earlier today, has been found.

Gemanafushi Council President Mohamed Shiyam told Sun Online that Nooraanee 6 was thought to have gone missing after contact was lost for many hours, while the boat was fishing in a region where there was no mobile phone network coverage.

He said that all 22 people onboard are in good condition, and the boat is presently fishing in a region between Laamu and Huvadhu Atolls.

Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Spokesperson Hussain Ali told Sun Online that contact has been re-established with the boat, and efforts are ongoing to obtain more information.
