The State Trading Organisation (STO) has donated MVR 335, 385 to the project to give a mus’haf (printed copy of the Quran) to every Maldivian citizen.
The donation was accepted by Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed at a press conference at the Ministry of Islamic Affairs today.
Managing Director of STO Adam Azim said that this donation was made on the occasion of STO’s 50th anniversary.
He said that under this project, STO would print 4,350 mus’hafs, which would be presented to every STO staff and two family members of every STO staff.
Islamic Affairs Minister Dr Shaheem thanked STO for the donation, and urged other companies and individuals to follow suit and extend cooperation to such projects.
A total of 18 companies have made donations to this project since it was announced on 26 December 2014.
Dr Shaheem has said that the mus’hafs are expected to be printed by 26 July 2016.
