The Twitter account of Minister of Islamic Affairs Dr Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed has been hacked.

This comes after he announced his disapproval of the New Year show in Male’, at which dancehall rapper Sean Paul was scheduled to perform.

Shaheem told Sun Online on Viber that his Twitter account was hacked after 11:00 p.m. last night (Monday night), and that he has not been able to access the account since then.

Tweets that came after 11:00 p.m. were not by him, Shaheem said.

The hackers tweeted from Shaheem’s account, “I repeat, I want to inform all my Maldivian brothers that I am against Sean Paul’s New Year show.”

Sean Paul has announced on Facebook that he would not be making an appearance at the Tourist Arrival Countdown show in Male’ on the night of 31 December 2014.
