President: Political ideologies may differ, but we should agree on some issues

President Abdulla Yameen has said that despite the different political ideologies in our society, it should be possible for everyone to agree on some issues.

The President made this remark at a ceremony held in Addu City on Sunday evening, to inaugurate a sewerage system project in the island.

“As humans, we would have difference of opinion. Not even all members of the same family may think alike. Our society consists of small and big ‘units’. That is, islands and atolls. Similarly, our political ideologies differ. Despite those differences, we should be able to agree on some issues,” the President said.

He noted with appreciation the decision by Mayor of Addu City Abdulla Sodig to participate in the event, despite the difference in political opinions.

The event was also attended by Minister of Environment and Energy Thorig Ibrahim, Minister of Fisheries and Agriculture Dr Mohamed Shainee, Managing Director of Fenaka Corporation Mohamed Nimal, Hulhudhoo MP Mohamed Shahid, Feydhoo MP Ibrahim Didi, Leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA) and Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed.
