Man arrested on suspicion of physical violence against wife

A man has been arrested in the island of A. Dh. Mahibadhoo on suspicion of physical violence against his wife.

The Maldives Police Services confirmed that a 27-year old man was arrested under a court warrant last Wednesday, but declined to give any further details.

Mahibadhoo Magistrate Court has ordered the suspect to be kept under detainment for seven days for investigation.

The Police stated that the suspect has records related to crimes such as drug offences, theft, gang violence and intimidation, and violence with sharp objects.
