Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muizzu has said that no one in Maldives must live in temporary shelters now.
Addressing in the ceremony held to celebrate National Day and Day of Unity at Dharubaaruge on Thursday evening, Minister Muizzu said that they have achieved this as a result of policy of the president and efforts made to provide a shelter other than the temporary shelters for tsunami victims.
By providing details on the work done to provide a permanent shelter for the tsunami victims, Housing Minister said that building of 41 houses in Thaa Madifushi, 86 out of 87 houses in Gaafu Alifu Dhaandhoo, 45 out of 50 houses in Gaafu Alifu Nilandhoo, 59 out of 77 houses in Gaafu Alifu Vilingili and 51 houses out of 84 in Gaafu Alifu Maamendhoo have been completed.
A total of 298 houses were planned for four islands in Gaafu Alifu Atoll. Contractors assigned for building these houses were Vimlaa Construction, MRDC, MTCC and MNDF.
