MNDF completes Maamendhoo tsunami houses

Out of the 84 tsunami houses to be built in Gaafu Alifu Maamendhoo, Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF) have completed building of 34 tsunami houses that have been assigned to them and have handed over to the Housing Ministry.

In an event held on Tuesday in Maamendhoo, 17 houses have been handed over to the Housing Minister Dr. Mohamed Muiz by Southern Area Commander Colonel Abdul Raheem Abdul Lateef . Out of the other 17 houses, 14 houses have been handed over to the Ministry on 10 December while the other three houses have been handed over to the Ministry on 17 December.

“Operation Hiyaavahi” was the name given to the operation by MNDF to build tsunami houses in Maamendhoo.

MNDF has started on-site work to build tsunami houses in Maamendhoo on 21 November 2013.

Among the 84 houses to be built in Maamendhoo, building of 50 houses have been assigned to a private company of that island. Building of these 50 houses are not completed yet.
