A ferry that ran aground near Gaafu Dhaalu Gadhdhoo at around 5:30 a.m. has been refloated by the police and people of the island.
Police said that the incident was reported at 6:00 a.m., following which the people on the boat were taken to Gadhdhoo on a dinghy.
President of Gadhdhoo Council Mohamed Ahmed told Sun Online that ferry services in Gaafu Alifu and Gaafu Dhaalu atoll are organised by Kooddoo.
He said that one ferry is operated in each atoll, and the ferry used in Gaafu Dhaalu atoll was being used in Gaafu Alifu atoll today, after their ferry broke down.
Mohamed Ahmed said that the ferry ran aground near the Gadhdhoo channel while on its way to Gadhdhoo, and that the boat did not suffer any damage in the incident.
Two men, two women, and two children were onboard at the time of the incident, which is under investigation by the Gadhdhoo Police Station.
