Water problem fully solved, says task force

The task force has said that the water problem faced in Male’ following a fire at the Maldives Water and Sewerage Company (MWSC) has been fully solved, and water is now being supplied as per normal.

Chairperson of the task force established by President Abdulla Yameen to handle the water crisis, Mohamed Nazim, told Sun Online that the problem was fully solved today, and efforts are ongoing to install new panel boards brought in from Singapore.

Water was cut off in Male’ following the fire on 4 December, and people were left without access to water for basic needs, including drinking water.

The government initially issued water for one hour twice per day for a few days. Seven days into the crisis, water was turned on for 24 hours for testing.

Many friendly countries supplied emergency water to counter the shortage.

In a statement issued last night, the task force announced that the water problem has been solved and thanked the people for their cooperation and patience during this crisis.
