Hassan Ziyaath appointed as the Auditor General

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayyoom has appointed Hassan Ziyaath of H.Aahama as the Auditor General on Monday.

Hassan Ziyaath took the oath of office before the Supreme Court Judge Abdulla Areef at a ceremony held on Monday morning at the President’s Office.

Parliament has approved Hassan Ziyaath’s name to the Auditor General Post in Monday’s meeting with 60 votes.

Hassan Ziyaath, a chartered accountant, has served in this field for 14 years. He was the Chairperson of Housing Development Corporation (HDC).

Hassan Ziyaath was appointed as the Auditor General because the recent amendment to the Audit Act stated that the President should nominate an individual for the post of Auditor General and send the name to the parliament for approval, within 30 days from the day the bill is ratified.
