The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) has said that the live performance by two-piece band, Lounging Flounders, attracted more people and interest to the Maldives stand at the China International Travel Mart (CITM) 2014 this year, held in Shanghai, China from 14 to 16 November 2014.
MMRPC took part in the CITM together with 26 representative companies from the tourism industry of Maldives.
MMPRC said in a press release that a dedicated B2B meeting area at Maldives stand was introduced for the first time this year, which enhanced the business meetings and portrayed a more professional approach.
MMPRC further said that CITM is the largest travel mart in China which has been running successfully over the years with over 2,359 exhibition booths, and that the annual fair that takes place in Shanghai and Kunming alternatively.
Since the end of 2010, the Chinese market has shown a massive boom in arrivals to Maldives with a growth rate of 29.5 percent. With 286,838 arrivals recorded from January to September 2014, China currently takes up 31.8 percent of market share, which is an increase of 14.8 percent compared to the same period in 2013.
