The budget committee has decided on Sunday, to summon Finance Minister Abdulla Jihad and some independent institutions to the committee during evaluation of budget allocated to independent institutions in the projected budget for the year 2015.
However, committee did not decide the independent institutions to be brought to the budget committee.
Though independent institutions have requested for a budget of more than MVR 3 billion, Finance Ministry has allocated a budget of MVR 1 billion in the projected budget 2015.
Speaking in the budget committee meeting, MP of Komandoo constituency Ahmed Nashid (ADK Nashid) raised his concerns over the independent institutions saying the allocated budget was less while the budget allocated for 2015 was more than budget given to them in 2014.
In Sunday’s meeting, MP of Eydhafushi Ahmed Saleem (Red Wave saleem) said that independent institutions’ budgets were very high and any additional adjustments to the budget have to be brought after discussing with Finance Minister.
Speaking in the budget committee meeting, MP Gasim Ibrahim said that if the independent institutions tell that budget allocated to them was less, budget has to adjusted and more have to be allocated to these institutions by reducing from other areas where possible.
Deputy Leader of MDA and MP of Kendhikulhudhoo Ali Mauroof said that it is not good to brig major changes to the projected budget of the year 2015.
