Gan arson attacks: Police officers testify against two more suspects

Several police officers have testified in court today against two suspects involved in the arson attacks on the Police Station in Gan, Addu City, on 8 February 2012 following the change of government.

Police officers present at the scene at the time of the incident testified against Mohamed Saeed, Beach Villa, Seenu Feydhoo; and Abdulla Saeed, Suvaasaage, Seenu Feydhoo.

Four police officers said that Mohamed Saeed broke through police shields in his car; and that although they did not see him enter the Police Station, he was in front of the Police Station when the protesters broke into the Police Station.

The police officers said that the police shields were hit by the car several times; and while one police officer said that Mohamed Saeed was driving every time the car hit the police shields, other police officers said that Mohamed Saeed was behind the wheel only the first time.

Two police officers testified against that Abdulla Saeed, and said that he also broke through the police shields in his car.

More than 35 people, including former Hithadhoo MP Mohamed Rasheed and former Feydhoo Councillor Ahmed Mirzad, have been charged with terrorism following the arson attacks on Gan Police Station in February 2012.
