Drug Enforcement Department Branches to be established in Addu and Knulhudhuffushi

It has been decided to establish two branches of Drug Enforcement Department of Maldives Police Service in Addu City and Haa Dhaalu Kulhudhuffushi.

In a press conference held at Iskandhar Koshi on Wednesday, Head of Maldives Police Service Drug Enforcement Department, Chief Inspector of Police Ahmed Shifan said that branches of that department would be established in both Addu city and Kulhudhuffushi during January 2015.

Shifan said that dogs would be used in Addu city and Kulhudhuffushi branches in order to strengthen and widen the operations carried out by Drug Enforcement Department.

Police has arrested eight suspects, including a police officer in an ongoing drug operation by Drug Enforcement Department in Lhaviyani Atoll.
