Civil Court orders to reinstate Sergeant Major Naushad

The Civil Court has ruled to reinstate Maldives National Defence Force (MNDF) Sergeant Major Naushad Ali.

The court said in its ruling that the state could not prove in court that Naushad was given natural justice and due process, as required according to High Court and Supreme Court precedents under Article 68 of the Constitution.

The court ordered MNDF to reinstate Naushad to his former position within 30 days, and to provide him his due salary and allowance up to the day of his reinstatement.

Naushad and several others were dismissed by MNDF after being accused of inciting discord within the institution.
