The government has signed an agreement with Falak Enterprises Private Limited regarding a project worth MVR 1,485,343.99, to renovate Hithadhoo Regional Hospital.
The agreement was signed at a ceremony held at the Ministry of Health today.
The project, to be completed in 93 days, will see the renovation of the hospital building including private rooms, power station, medical stores, general stores, ANC clinic, and laundry room.
The ministry also signed an agreement in 8 September 2014 with Sunshell Maldives Private Limited regarding a MVR 1.2 million project to renovate the main building of Hithadhoo Regional Hospital. This project is expected to be completed in early December.
Today’s agreement was signed by Acting Minister of Health and Minister of Defence Mohamed Nazim, and Managing Director of Falak Enterprises Private Limited.
Speaking at the ceremony, Nazim said that international tenders will be invited in February 2015, for the project to establish a 100-bed hospital in Addu City. He said that the pre-qualification process for this project will begin next week.
Nazim added that the government is not of the opinion that this project is delayed.
“We do not think that the hospital project is delayed. We will open pre-qualification next week, to find a party to undertake the construction work,” said Nazim.
