Ferry runs aground en route to Gaafaru

A ferry on its way from Kaafu Kaashidhoo to Kaafu Gaafaru, has run aground on a reef near Gaafaru.

Sun Online journalist Murshid Abdul Hakeem, who is presently in Gaafaru, said that there was no damage to the boat and no one was hurt in the incident.

Murshid cited the ferry captain and said that the accident took place at around 8:45 a.m., due to confusion while entering Gaafaru harbour.

The ferry has been refloated with the assistance of a vessel carrying oil to the island, owned by the State Electric Company Limited (STELCO), which happened to be in the area.
