Inflation rises by 1.4 percent

The Department of National Planning has said that the annual inflation, from September 2013 to September 2014, has increased by 1.4 percent.

This was announced in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) September 2014, released on 27 October 2014.

The department said that the most significant rise in prices over the twelve months until September 2014, were seen in Tobacco and areca nuts, with 6.60 percent; Education, with 5.16 percent; Restaurants and Hotels, with 4.90 percent; and Health, with 4.27 percent.

Meanwhile, Food and non-alcoholic beverages fell by 2.37 percent over the twelve months until September 2014.

Inflation rose by 0.06 percent in September 2014.
