Maumoon thanks Nasheed for wishing on PPM anniversary

President of Progressive Party of Maldives (PPM) and former president Maumoon Abdul Gayoom has thanked President of Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) and former president Mohamed Nasheed for wishing PPM on their anniversary.

The conversation regarding PPM’s third anniversary between the two competitive politicians was made through Twitter, the online social network. Nasheed wished Maumoon and members of PPM in a tweet he posted this morning.

In the tweet, Nasheed stated that political parties were the resources of the ruling system that would facilitate development.

Maumoon thanked Nasheed in a tweet he posted this evening.

Nasheed is being praised on social media following the anniversary wish he has sent to PPM as the opposition leader. Many people have praised him earlier for accepting defeat in the presidential election and attending the oath taking ceremony of President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom.

A lot of people appreciated Maumoon as well for taking a selfie with Nasheed on 21 May 2014 when Maldives National Football Team played against Kirgizstan at the National Stadium in Male’.

Maumoon started working on forming PPM on 5 September 2011 after leaving Dhivehi Rayyithunge Party (DRP), the party he formed during his government. PPM was registered as a political party with 3,200 members on 27 October 2011.
