STO opens pharmacy in Dhiffushi

The State Trading Organization (STO) has opened a pharmacy in Kaafu Dhiffushi, under the program in collaboration with the government to open pharmacies covered by Aasandha health insurance scheme in every inhabited island across the country.

Mohamed Waheed Ibrahim, Parliament Member of Thulushoo constituency and Adam Azim, Managing Director of STO inaugurated the pharmacy at Dhiffushi today.

After inaugurating the pharmacy, Azim said that the responsibility given to STO was to provide medicine needed to all the citizens under Aasandha and from today onwards people of Dhiffushi would not have to struggle to get any kind of medicine.

“If any medicine is not in this pharmacy, by keeping the prescription here, medicine will be provided with the earliest boat that comes to Dhiffushi from Male’” said Azim.

Azim said that the resources needed to Dhiffushi Health Center also would be provided by STO within next three months.

Addressing in the event, Parliament Member Waheed said that the work of providing medicine free to everyone is not an easy task and he thanked STO for providing such a service.

STO Managing Director Adam Azim said that this program is aimed to provide easy access of health facilities to people, and the government’s goal is to make health services covered by Aasandha accessible to all Maldivians.

STO said that the project to open pharmacies in every inhabited island would be completed within two years.
